The American Government is literally tearing itself apart. The American voters do not wish to see our government destroy this country, our history and our Constitution. It does not matter if you are a Democrat, Independent, Libertarian or Republican – we are all concerned. In the past, after we had the presidential election, whoever won, the people would respect the outcome. We supported the newly elected President. It was a basic principle of true sportsmanship, but something different happened this time. Instead of rallying around our leader and putting our country first, our representatives are more interested in me-ism. According to Webster’s Dictionary, an “ism” is an oppressive and especially discriminatory attitude or belief. Our Representative’s demeanor and words are vitriolic and shameful coming out of their mouths. Folks, these are the people we voted in office to represent and protect our country. What is this country projecting to the world? In June, the Queen of England invited our President to come and celebrate the 75th anniversary of D-Day. It was regal and well done. Then, it was off to France, where our President and the President of France held a D-Day ceremony honoring the day and the veterans. It was a moving ceremony. The cameras showed the D-Day cemetery where thousands of our soldiers gave the supreme sacrifice for our freedom. They were fighting the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, better known as the Nazis. They also interviewed some veterans from D-Day. One veteran stated, “We appeared brave, but we were all scared, but it did not matter because we were doing our duty.” Then, the news switched to the Speaker of the House, third in line for the Presidency, who was declaring our President should be put in handcuffs and carted off to prison. My heart sank – so much reverence for our country, and then this. It is time for us voters to seek out the truth. Do not listen to misinformation on social media. Do your own research. Did you know our cell phones hold more information than the NASA computers did when we put a man on the moon? So, there is no excuse… just like our teachers told us, DO YOUR RESEARCH! A great President once said, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” I don’t care who you voted for or who you support, the time has come for us to stand united – before it’s too late!
