    Finding The Blessings

It’s already February, and we are pushing through winter as smoothly as possible. Every day is fresh and new, full of its own blessings and blunders. And so goes the variety of daily challenges, and treasures, we experience out on the road. We aren’t guaranteed our next breath, and we have no idea how each day will go. One thing for certain is that nothing is for certain! Some days, we will have the weight of the world crushing down on us, and the rain just pours. Other days, we just skip along with the breeze and everything seems sunny and warm. Either way, I feel that it is important to find the blessings in every situation. Our lives, as professional drivers, are diverse and unpredictable. Exciting, then dull. Lonely, then lavish. Hurried, then hindered. But, someday, we won’t be on the road anymore. Then, what we have left is our loved ones and our memories of the road. There’ll be good days and bad days, but praise God we have any days at all. This month’s poem is about finding the blessings in every day we are granted.

    FebPoemPicTHERE’LL BE DAYS

There’ll be days when you’ll be running ‘gainst the wind,
Long days, you’ll be running ‘gainst the wind.
Some days you’ll be running with a friend, though,
Watching God’s creation through the window.
And on the days you’re running with a friend…
It won’t matter that you’re running ‘gainst the wind.

There’ll be afternoons with rain upon your pane,
Gloomy days with rain upon your pane.
Just push ahead and keep it in your lane, though,
Rain will often turn into a rainbow.
If nothing ventured leads to nothing gained…
Then bring on all that runnin’ in the rain.

There’ll be nights when you’ll be running ‘neath the stars,
Moonless nights you’re running ‘neath the stars.
It’s better than the traffic and the cars, though,
Chicken lights and stars don’t need the moon glow.
And in the peaceful absence of the cars…
You’ll be happy to be running ‘neath the stars.

There’ll be days that you’ll be running in the sun,
Sizzlin’ days – just running in the sun.
Who could think of any better fun, though,
Rollin’ with the visor and the seat low.
Just look around, you’re not the only one…
Who loves it, to be running in the sun.

There’ll be times that you’ll be running pretty fast,
Sometimes, you’ll be running pretty fast.
You can’t be first – you won’t be the last, though,
Just take it easy anywhere that you go.
If you’re leaving pain and sorrow in the past…
It feels awesome to be running pretty fast.

There’ll be days when you’ll be running pretty slow,
Days when you’ll be running pretty slow.
God allows us unforeseen delays, though,
And He knows infinitely more than we know.
And when the skies unleash the falling snow…
You’ll be happy to be running pretty slow.

There’ll be days that you’ll be running all alone,
Days when you’ll be running all alone.
Every day away, you’re headed home, though,
And home is where your family and your friends go.
And with your friends and family on the phone…
You’re never really running all alone.

There’ll be days when you won’t run around no more,
Days when you won’t run around no more.
And you’ll recall just what the run was for, though,
The wind, the rain, the stars, the sun, the moon glow.
And when you see your true love at the door…
You’ll be happy to be runnin’ around no more.

I’ve known Trevor since 2007 when we use to call into a radio station and we met at a truck show in Louisville, KY. Over the years I have really enjoyed reading Trevor’s work and what he has done to trucks…..making them look pretty. Keep up the good work Trevor, you are the best of the best.
