This one is another parody I\u2019ve had rolling around in my head for a little while. Parodies are a little more challenging to write as a poem because they rely on the reader knowing the actual song being parodied. This one, however, I know with absolute certainty, that you are familiar with the original song. Anytime I have a little fun with rewriting song lyrics, I advise the reader to listen to the original version first, and then read the version I just wrote, and hopefully have a little fun with it. So\u2026 without further ado\u2026 please go listen to Jimmy Buffet singing his iconic song \u201cMargaritaville\u201d. Get that song stuck in your head, like it always tends to do, and then come back and read my poem\/parody here. It\u2019s silly and it doesn\u2019t necessarily make a ton of sense, but it\u2019s fun. And later today, when you have Margaritaville repeating in your head, just remember this \u2013 some people claim that there\u2019s a poem to blame, but I know\u2026 it\u2019s my own damn fault! I call this one Buff-It, Jimmy! Enjoy!!<\/p>

Feelin\u2019 my truck shake\u2026
Hittin\u2019 the Jake Brake\u2026
Pretty dang sure,
I\u2019m beginnin\u2019 to toil.<\/p>

Hummin\u2019 on eighteen\u2026
Oh, how the tires sing\u2026
Smell that stench,
I\u2019ve been burnin\u2019 some oil.<\/p>

Wastin\u2019 a day again in my ol\u2019 Peterbilt.
Waitin\u2019 for that, freight broker\u2019s call.
Some people claim that there\u2019s a sickness to blame,
But I know\u2026 it\u2019s nobody\u2019s fault.<\/p>

Don\u2019t know the reason\u2026
Freight\u2019s in slow season\u2026
Nothin\u2019 to pull,
But a backhaul or two.<\/p>

But it\u2019s a real doosey\u2026
And it\u2019s makin\u2019 me moody\u2026
I polish and shine,
When there\u2019s nothin\u2019 to do.<\/p>

Wastin\u2019 a day again in my ol\u2019 Peterbilt.
Waitin\u2019 for that, freight broker\u2019s call.
Some people claim that it\u2019s a young man\u2019s game,
But I know\u2026 well, it could be my fault.<\/p>

I don\u2019t wear no flip-flops\u2026
Strollin\u2019 my flat-top\u2026
I\u2019d buff my wheels,
\u2018Fore I cruise on back home.<\/p>

But then I remember\u2026
I need legal tender\u2026
That frozen load option,
Is already gone.<\/p>
