When you are on the road for a while, you learn to pick out interesting and uncommon machinery and check it out as it flies by – it’s a treat that makes your day go by with free excitement, and it’s a way to make some friends, too. A few months ago, I saw exactly what you are seeing in these pictures – note the typical “rubberneckin” angle – absolutely stunning red and white matching combo. Yesterday I reached SeptSpirit2out on social media (it’s not completely useless!) and within two minutes or so friends directed me to Derek Tessman. Here is his response to my inquiry: “The truck is a 2015 Peterbilt 389 Fitzgerald glider that we bought new with a 1999 12.7 Detroit. It has a 13-speed with 3:55s, air-ride steer, and disk brakes. The trailer is a 2007 Polar and it was an ugly trailer when we bought it. The aluminum was pitted, so after polishing about a fourth of the trailer, we gave up and decided to paint it to match a couple of our trucks. Unfortunately, it got rear ended by an F350 about a month ago, so it won’t be on the road again until January 2021. It will have a new sub-frame, new axles, and disk brakes. We generally run between Des Moines and Omaha hauling gas, diesel, biodiesel, and ethanol. Thank you for the compliment on the rig!” We sure want to see the trailer renewed one more time. Build it back up and keep the dream alive – that is the spirit, right!
