This 1953 GMC 350 has been in the Seymore family of Arley, Alabama, since it was bought new in June of 1954 for a mere $2,950 (which was a lot of money back then). As a child, current owner Hershel Seymore went out in this truck with his brother and father to haul lumber that they picked up from the local sawmill for deliveries all over northern Alabama. Once Hershel was old enough to drive, he began to haul coal and shavings for chicken houses. After many years of service, the GMC was finally retired. It sat in a shed for 30 years before Hershel purchased it from his brothers in 2005 and began restoring it – a project that took about a year to finish. In addition to the GMC, the Seymores also own a 1953 Chevrolet 3100 that they restored, updating it with an automatic transmission, power brakes, power steering and air conditioning. Hershel has three sons, two grandsons and two granddaughters, and all of them were involved in this restoration project. They enjoy taking their neat old truck to local shows in and around Alabama.
