In Memory of James Botelho

1943 - 2008

We are sad to report that James Harry Botelho, father of our friend and trucker Jeff Botelho, passed away on February 12, 2008 at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, CA at 64 years of age after suffering several heart attacks.  Jim was born December 31, 1943 in San Jose, CA.  After serving in the Navy, he met and married Alvina Flores on May 1, 1966.  They made their home in Saratoga where they began their family.  They moved to Gilroy in 1977 and then settled in Los Banos, CA in 1987.  Jim worked as a machinist until 1984 when he established Botelho Brothers Trucking, which is still family-owned and operated.  In semi-retirement, Jim enjoyed riding his motorcycles and fishing, but his ultimate joy was his grandchildren.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Alvina Botelho; children Jimmy and Cindy Botelho; Jeff and Rosie Botelho; Dianna and David Alexander; 6 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  James Botelho will be remembered as a strong man with a soft spot for the ones he loved.  He cared deeply for his family and taught them the values of hard work, responsibility and confidence.  "Better a has-been than a never was," he often said.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jeff and the entire Botelho family.
