INJURED TRUCKER NEEDS YOUR HELP
Owner-Operator Jan Huey Involved in Traumatic Accident

Show truckers will be saddened to learn that owner-operator Jan Huey, Ron Huey’s wife, was seriously injured on December 27th, 2006 in Cincinnati, Ohio. While waiting on a load, Jan decided to take a walk to get something to eat and was struck by a car. The impact of the car broke the femur bone on her left leg, but more tragic, the trauma of the accident caused Jan to have a stroke, which has affected the right side of her body and her speech. Her leg has since been operated on and is healing, but she has a long way to go in regards to regaining her speech and full control of her right side. She went home on January 25th and can now walk with a cane. Since they are owner-operators, they had very little medical insurance coverage because of the high price of premiums for self-employed people. Christina Newby, one of Jan’s daughters, is hoping some folks out there can help - in any way they can (maybe a fund-raiser or benefit event) to help this couple with the enormous medical bills they are receiving. Ron has been trucking since 1977 and Jan joined him on the road in 1997. The couple was operating as R & J Trucking out of Greensburg, Indiana, but after the accident, Ron sold his trailer, parked the truck, and took a job at the local International dealer so he can be close to home and help Jan with her recovery. Ron & Jan have competed in national truck shows with their silver 2000 International 9400 (the photo here was taken at the Truck Show Las Vegas after the couple won “Best of Show Bobtail” in 2005). For further information, contact Christina Newby at cmnewby@gmail.com. Donations to help Jan can be made to: Irwin Union Bank, Donation to Janice Huey, P.O. Box 929, Columbus, IN 47202-0929. We hope you can (and will) help.
