Hundreds of Classic Trucks Show Up For Annual Show

On Sunday, May 5th, 230 fantastic antique trucks gathered in Whittier, California for the 18th Annual Antique Truck Show. Put on every year by the Southern California Chapter of the Antique Truck Historical Society, this year’s event had over 1,500 spectators and another 500 chapter members/owners. The extraordinary variety of antique trucks represented every decade of the past century. Pickup trucks, military vehicles, fire trucks, construction equipment, race trucks, tankers, working trucks, you name it - it was there.

The show started under an overcast sky at 10:00 AM. By noon most of the trucks had registered and the judging began. Winners received handcrafted trophies made out of reconditioned antique truck parts, mounted on a wooden base. They were really cool! Both the participants and spectators were glad to see the sun finally break through and provide the show with a beautiful spring day.

The sound of music and the smell of BBQ filled the air. Many vendors set up tables and booths, selling both new and used truck parts and accessories. It was very busy at the 10-4 Magazine table. Many old and new friends of the magazine stopped by to pay us a visit. Some wanted a free poster and some just wanted to chat. It was very rewarding to witness the high level of appreciation and positive comments we got from our readers at the show.

All in all, it was a fun and exciting day, filled with friendly folks of all ages and tons of great antique metal. Our compliments to the team of people around Ken Lund for putting together such a smooth and perfectly-organized event. If you would like to see more photos from the show (in color) visit www.tenfourmagazine.com and look in the “Photo Gallery” section. We look forward to next year’s show and hope you can all come to this unique event too.
